Privacy at Glowbug

The current Glowbug app is a free, local-first iPhone app. Your moments stay on your iPhone unless you choose to export them. The separate launch website only receives the email address, signup location, consent-version record, and signup time needed when someone chooses to join the waitlist.
The iPhone app
This local-first version does not create an account, connect family members or devices, offer cloud storage, sell subscriptions, show advertising, or use analytics. It does not send your moments, recordings, transcripts, photos, or reflections to Glowbug servers or to remote AI services.
What stays on your iPhone
The words you approve, any photo you select, your saved moments, app settings, and weekly reflections are stored in Glowbug's protected app storage on your iPhone. Glowbug organizes moments and creates reflections on your iPhone. You remain in control of what becomes a saved moment.
Voice recordings and transcription
Glowbug uses the microphone only after you choose to record. Temporary voice recordings are kept in protected app storage while Glowbug transcribes them on the iPhone and while you review or recover an interrupted moment. The recording is not part of the moment you keep. Glowbug removes it after the moment is safely saved or deleted, and keeps a local cleanup marker if deletion needs to be retried.
Photos
Glowbug receives only the photo you select. Before storing it, the app creates a local copy with location, camera, date, and other private source metadata removed. Glowbug does not scan the rest of your photo library.
Reminders
If you allow notifications, Glowbug schedules a local, content-free reminder on your iPhone. The notification does not include names, moment text, photos, or reflections. This version of Glowbug has no remote notification service.
Exporting and deleting
You choose when anything leaves Glowbug. Export opens the iPhone share sheet so you can choose where to send or save a copy. Glowbug does not receive that export. This version does not sync or back up your Moments, and an export cannot be imported back into Glowbug. If the app is deleted, the iPhone is lost or replaced, or its data is erased, Glowbug cannot restore your Moments. You can delete one moment or all saved Glowbug content in the app. Your app settings stay. Deleting saved content cannot remove copies you previously exported or copies managed outside Glowbug.
The launch website
The website does not collect family stories, photos, recordings, or information about children. If you join the launch list, we collect your email address, the place on the site where you signed up, the version of the consent language shown to you, and the time of signup. We use this information to manage the waitlist, prevent duplicate signups, and send product updates or launch invitations. We do not sell it or use it for third-party advertising.
Website service providers
Vercel hosts the website. Supabase stores waitlist information, and Resend delivers the optional confirmation email. These providers process website and waitlist information only to provide those services for us. They do not receive content from the Glowbug iPhone app.
Waitlist retention and choices
We keep waitlist information while we prepare and launch Glowbug, unless you ask us to remove it sooner. Launch emails include a way to leave the list. You can also contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of your waitlist information. Because app content stays on your iPhone, Glowbug cannot view, retrieve, or delete that content for you.
